Software Spotlight: Dr. Paul Manganiello on lynda.com tutorials

Each quarter we ask a Dartmouth community member about a Computing Services application.

Paul Manganiello, M.D. retired from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center earlier this year and is currently on the clinical faculty at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine. He began using Computing Services’ free lynda tutorials service shortly after its launch in March 2012.

PC to Mac—made easy

"At DHMC I always used a Dell computer. When I retired, I purchased a MacBook Pro. I wanted to learn how to use Office for Mac 2011: Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook programs more effectively. I didn't find other online sources helpful, and I felt bad about constantly pestering the librarians for help. I learned about Dartmouth’s lynda website and starting using it."

At his own pace

"What I like about the lynda tutorials is that they are very well organized, the videos are great, and the instructors are excellent. Best of all, I can go at my own pace and constantly go back to review items."

Continuing education

"I've finished all of the Mac tutorials and constantly return for review. I plan on learning Photoshop next."

All of lynda's training videos—there are more than 1400 of them—are available to the entire Dartmouth community. Go to lynda.dartmouth.edu, log in with your Dartmouth credentials, and start learning!
