Eduroam Wireless Network

Step-by-Step

Follow the steps below to configure the Eduroam wireless network on your computer/device. Once you do this, whenever you are at any institution with Eduroam, simply enter your Dartmouth username and password (as noted below) and you will be connected to that institution's eduroam wireless network.

Windows 8/10:

  1. From the Windows tile screen, search for "Connect to a Network" and click the link when found.
  2. Eduroam should appear in the list of available wireless networks. Click Eduroam then click Connect.
  3. If you want to connect to the Eduroam wireless network whenever it is available, place a check in the Connect Automatically field.
  4. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  5. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  6. Click OK.

Windows 7:

  1. Go to https://software.dartmouth.edu/setupWizard/eduroam/ to start the installation.
  2. Check the I accept the terms of the end-user license agreement box then click Start.
  3. When prompted, download the NetworkWizardLoader.exe file.
  4. When the download is complete, double click the file to open it then click Run.
  5. If prompted, click Allow this file.
  6. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  7. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  8. Click Continue. You should automatically connect to the Eduroam wireless network.

Mac OS 10.9, 10.10 and 10.11:

  1. From the Wi-Fi menu bar control, search for and select Eduroam in the list of available wireless networks.
  2. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu. (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu)
  3. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  4. Click Join.
  5. You will receive a warning: "Authenticating to network "eduroam". Before authenticating to 'radius.dartmouth.edu' you should examine the certificate to ensure that it is appropriate for this network". Click Continue.
  6. A dialog box will appear "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings. Type your password to allow this." Enter your computer's administrator password.

Mac OS X 10.8:

  1. From the Wi-Fi menu bar control, search for and select Eduroam in the list of available wireless networks.
  2. If you want to connect to the Eduroam wireless network whenever it is available, place a check in the Remember this network field.
  3. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  4. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  5. Click Join.

Linux/Ubuntu:

  1. From the Wi-Fi menu bar control, search for and select Eduroam in the list of available wireless networks.
  2. If present, set Security to: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise.
  3. Change Authentication to Protected EAP (PEAP).
  4. Download the DigiCert High Assurance EV Root CA.cer file (attached to this KB article) and select it as the CA Certificate (CA = Certificate Authority).
  5. Leave the PEAP Version to Automatic.
  6. Set the Inner authentication to MSCHAPv2.
  7. Set the Username to be <your NetID>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  8. Enter your Dartmouth Password.
  9. Click Connect.

iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch):

  1. Touch Settings.
  2. Touch WiFi.
  3. In Choose a Network, touch Eduroam.
  4. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  5. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  6. Touch Join.

Android:

  1. Touch Apps.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Connections.
  4. Touch WiFi.
  5. Touch Eduroam.
  6. Under Phase 2 authentication touch and select MSCHAPV2.
  7. In the Identity field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  8. Leave the Anonymous identity field blank.
  9. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  10. Touch Connect.

Windows Phone:

  1. Touch Settings.
  2. Touch WiFi.
  3. Touch Eduroam.
  4. In the Username field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  5. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  6. Touch Connect.

ChromeBook:

  1. Click on icons in lower-right corner of display and verify Date and Time for correctness for your location.
  2. Under the Account name and Sign Out button, click on the Network line/button having the ""-icon.
  3. Click Eduroam.
  4. In the EAP method menu, click PEAP.
  5. In the Phase 2 authentication method, click MSCHAPV2.
  6. Leave the Server CA certificate unchanged - default.
  7. Leave Subject Match unchanged - blank.
  8. Leave User Certificate at None Installed.
  9. In the Identity field enter <your netid>@dartmouth.edu (e.g.: d12345c@dartmouth.edu).
  10. In the Password field enter the password for your dartmouth.edu account.
  11. Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank.
  12. Check the box by "Save Identity and Password" if desired.
  13. Do not check "Share this network with other users". (This can cause your computer to be blocked on the Dartmouth network.)
  14. Click Connect.
  15. Wait a moment while the ChromeBook connects to Eduroam.
