Sharing Folders and Files in Box

Box allows two different types of file sharing:

  • Send an invitation to a person(s) to collaborate on a particular file;
  • Share an entire folder, and everything in the folder and sub-folders with a person(s).

To share files and folders within a folder:

  1. Go to that folder, then click Invite People found in the right hand column.
  2. In the Invite field that appears, type the full email address (e.g. [email protected]) of the person that you want to share the entire folder with. Add multiple addresses by placing a semi-colon between each address.
  3. Next, in the Invited Permissions field, select the permissions that these people in the Invite field will have to this folder, sub-folders and files. Click the Learn More link which appears immediately to the right of this field to view your options.
  4. Click Send Invites. Everyone in the Invite field will receive an email with the message and a link to accept the invitation. Once they do that, they will have access to the files in this folder.

To share an individual file:

  1. Select the file you want to share, then click Share which appears on the right side of the row.
  2. Click the down arrow that appears immediately to the right of the People in your company field and select the type of people you want to share this file with.
  3. In the Email Address field, enter the full email address of the person(s) with whom you want to share this file.
  4. Click Send.
