Dartmouth provides several virtual server configuration options. The service offerings are based on the nature of the computing workload or applications being serviced by the virtual server. Our experienced team is available to discuss particular application workload and operational characteristics to assist individuals with selecting the appropriate virtual server configuration.

Benefits and Features

Infrastructure required to support the computer service leverages the robust hosting infrastructure in the Dartmouth’s data center, including the following attributes:

  • High speed network
  • Environmental monitoring ( temperature, power, humidity )
  • Fire suppression and detection
  • Power backup via standalone generator
  • Secure facility with restricted access and FISMA, HIPPA compliant offerings

Our experienced team of dedicated information technology professionals has expertise in all aspects of implementing, supporting and maintaining Linux and Windows server systems, including:

  • Monthly security and operating system patches applied
  • Backup of server to facilitate restore
  • Robust hardware supporting offering

Flexible capacity and billing options help support efficient resource utilization. Highlights include

  • Monthly billing -- if you no longer need the server simply let us know
  • Predictable monthly expense stream
  • Enables individuals to focus on core activities and not maintaining server equipment
  • Ability to expand computer capacity by increasing monthly expense and not requiring purchase of additional hardware

A standard server offering is generally available with 24 – 48 hours of request acknowledgement.

Tier 1 – Virtual Server

  • 1-4 vCPUs
  • 16 GB of RAM
  • 80 GB storage
  • Operating system Linux or Windows Server
  • Additional storage and backup can be added for a fee
  • Application support is not included

Tier 2 – Virtual Server

  • 1-2 vCPUs
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 80 GB storage
  • Operating system Linux or Windows Server
  • Additional storage and backup can be added for a fee
  • Application support is not included

Tier 3 – Virtual Server

  • 1-2 vCPUs
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • 40 GB storage
  • Operating system Linux or Windows Server
  • Additional storage and backup can be added for a fee
  • Application support is not included

Tier 4 – Virtual Server

  • 1 vCPU
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 20 GB storage
  • Operating system Linux or Windows Server
  • Additional storage and backup can be added for a fee
  • Application support is not included
