About Information Security
Information security is a cross-departmental responsibility. ITS has technical staff, joined by a Chief Information Security Officer and several collaborative teams, who all work to keep Dartmouth's information resources secure.
Chief Information Security Officer: Steve Nyman
The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) works to advance information security policy and awareness on the Dartmouth campus through:
- Information security governance
- Continuous improvement
The CISO also chairs the Dartmouth Information Security Committee and participates in the Cyber Security Initiative.
Dartmouth employs a layered approach to information security, using several different types of hardware and software to provide the best security level available. Firewalls and email filtering are part of the central security measures in place. But you should know what's at risk for you and how you can avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime.
