    Details

    Clickers, also known as personal response systems, allow instructors to ask questions and gather students' responses during a lecture. Clickers can help facilitate student engagement by polling students' opinions and asking students to discuss the reasons for their opinions. They can also be used to collect immediate feedback about students' understanding of lecture topics so points of confusion can be addressed quickly.

    • Make your group name descriptive so anyone who sees it, knows what it is for. The same acronyms are used by many different departments and organizations on campus, so avoid acronyms or nicknames as much as possible.
    • Make sure that a group doesn't already exist for the same purpose. Check for similar named accounts, lists or groups by searching in the Search People field in the ribbon in Outlook for Windows or the Find a Contact field in the ribbon on Outlook for Mac.

    What is Wi-Fi Calling?

    Wi-Fi Calling is a service for Android and iOS smartphones providing the ability to make and receive phone calls over a wireless network connection, rather than the cell network. It's simple to use with no separate application or log-in required. Wi-Fi calling is a free service when calling to a US, US Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico number. International rates still apply for international numbers.

    Web Options for UNIX and AFS Users

    The Web server running on www.dartmouth.edu cannot serve pages directly from AFS. Another system, caligari.dartmouth.edu, runs a Web server that can directly serve pages out of a user's account.

    Below are two options for people who want to have web pages, but keep them in AFS and maintain them directly from their AFS account.

    Dartmouth uses Microsoft's Exchange Online Protection system’s (EOP) built-in malware and spam filtering to protect inbound and outbound messages from transference of spam or malicious software. For junk email and phishing filtering, Microsoft controls these settings and uses reports from customers (among other things) to maintain up-to-date information about spam or phishing.
