    Frequently Asked Questions about Network Registration


    Who Needs to Register?

    Anyone attempting to plug into and use the wired campus network will need to be registered in order to use the network. Computers connected to the VPN or those that have static IP addresses are already registered.

    Who Is Allowed to Use the Wired Network?

    You must be affiliated with the college (faculty, student, and staff) and be able to provide campus credentials (your NetID and password) to register.

    Upper Valley Internet Service Providers


    To access the Internet from locations outside of the Dartmouth campus, you will need to contact a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP) to investigate what kind of connection service they offer in your area and which will work best for you.

    Note: Check the agreements carefully. Some of the ISPs listed below charge a fixed fee for a certain number of connect hours, with an additional charge for extra hours. Check the web pages of these ISPs to see if the high-speed service is available in your particular area.

    Configuring Dartmouth Secure Remote and GoGreen Remote


    Dartmouth remote locations including Boston, New York and San Francisco have a secure wireless network that works like the Dartmouth Secure wireless on campus with a secure set identifier of "Dartmouth Secure Remote".

    These same locations also have a guest wireless network called GoGreen Remote. The GoGreen Remote network uses WPA2-PSK technology similar to that used on most home networks -- with password only authentication.
