Extended IT Support Hours

The IT Help Desk will have extended support hours to help members of the Dartmouth community successfully navigate the new requirement for enhanced security for web-based applications.

New hours will run from July 13th through September 30th and are as follows:

  • Sundays 10:00 a.m. through Friday 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.

There will be no support available:

  • Fridays from 10:00 p.m. through Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
  • Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. through Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Normal support hours for faculty, staff and students are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In addition, during the term, you can walk-in to see us on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Baker/Berry 178J.

Normal support hours for alumni are Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 10:00 p.m. eastern time, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. eastern time.

The extended hours are exclusively for helping members of the Dartmouth community who cannot remember the answers to their security questions. Any request for assistance during the extended hours that is outside of this will result in a ticket being created for the regular support staff to handle during normal support hours.

If you need to have your security questions reset by the IT Help Desk, things to bear in mind when you're selecting new questions and answers include:

  • One word answers are easiest to remember in the future
  • Select questions where the answer will NOT change (e.g. your favorite color today may be blue but tomorrow it could be green)
  • If you select a question where a date is the answer, make sure that you always use the same date format. (e.g. 7/1/15 is a different answer than 7/1/2015, and 7/01/15, and July 1, 2015).
