In March, Vice President for Information Technology Ellen Waite-Franzen told ITS staff:

“We do a food drive for the Haven food pantry at our Holiday party in December and we have a wonderful turnout. As you also probably know, food pantries get more attention during the holidays than during the rest of the year, so we are going to do a spring food drive for the Haven—an April Food Day Drive.”

We collected food at our major locations: 4 Currier, Berry Library, and Dewey Field Road. Director of Web Services Susan Lee and her team coordinated at 4 Currier; Assistant Director, Educational Technologies Barbara Knauff coordinated at Berry; and Associate Director of Academic and Campus Technology Services Andrew Faunce and Classroom Specialist Norma Rose coordinated at DFR. Each of the coordinators set up a collection site for the food and boxed it up—readying it to ship. Senior IT Support Analyst Tish Aldom collected from each site the first week in April and brought it to The Haven.

The Haven was created in 1980 by caring citizens in our region who knew there were people among us, hidden in plain sight, who struggled to make it from one day to the next. Over thirty-five years later, community members in need are coming to The Haven's doors in greater numbers than ever, often needing more resources and support than in the past.

Jennifer Fontaine, The Haven's Director of Community Services & Operations said, “Friends like you have been with us, donating time, money, food, and other resources to make a difference in the lives of others. Your generosity enables people to continue to move forward with dignity and hope.”

Thanks, ITS!
