    OmniUpdate Training

    Details

    New Websites

    Your website must be developed before you can be trained to use OmniUpdate, our content management system (training cannot happen before the website is ready).

    Once your website has been set up in OmniUpdate, please contact [email protected].

    Existing Client Websites

    To schedule OmniUpdate training for an existing client website, please contact [email protected].

    Office Hours for Web Services

    Details

    Visit us during our Web Services Office Hours, every Tuesday and Thursday. These sessions are offered on a first-come basis for anyone needing help with either the OmniUpdate or Drupal web editing tools. No appointment is necessary, and bringing your own laptop is optional.

    OmniUpdate Help

    Details

    Omniupdate (OU) has a built-in Help menu found in the top right corner of the OU window once you’re logged in to the system.

    Logging Into OmniUpdate

    Details

    OmniUpdate (OU) authorized editors will be able to log in from any of the pages they have access to update by clicking on the date at the bottom of the page on the left hand side. Use your NetID and password to log in to the OU system.

    OmniUpdate (OU) is a web-based content management system, licensed by Dartmouth College, that is used to maintain some administrative departmental web sites.

    Using Fetch (FTP) to update a website

    Step-by-Step

    Information, Technology & Consulting (ITC) does not assist with management of personal websites. However, we do license an FTP program called Fetch which can be used for moving files from a Macintosh computer into a personal website on a server at Dartmouth. See details below, or contact your department's IT support office if you need Fetch installed on your computer.

    Slideshow in Drupal

    Details

    If you want to add images to an article, the Slideshow option is where you do it. You will find Slideshow on the left, towards the bottom of the page.

    The slideshow is a carousel of photos that appear beneath the article's intro. You may have up to five images in a slideshow, and they will initially appear in the order in which you enter them. The image at the top of the list will appear first.

    To add an image, click Browse, and select from among the following options:

    Image Promo

    Step-by-Step

    An article or basic page can have one image promo, you will find this link on the left, towards the bottom of the page.

    An image promo is a small box on the left-hand side, with a small image on top and two lines of text below. The promo is designed to link somewhere, usually to a faculty profile, with the words "Faculty Profile" in the first line and the person’s name in the second line.
