Bulk Add or Remove of LISTSERV Subscribers

Step-by-Step

Rather than add and remove subscribers one by one, you can use bulk operations to add or remove multiple subscribers at once. To do so, you must have a text file that contains a list of the subscribers you wish to add or remove.

You can either create a text file by hand, or you can obtain the text file from another source. To use a text file with the listserv system's bulk operations feature, it must be saved as plain text. Each email address must be placed on a separate line. Optionally, you may add a space or a tab after the email address, followed by the subscriber's first and last name.

Create Text File for Bulk Operations

To create a text file with a list of subscribers you wish to add or remove from your listserv:

  1. Open NotePad (Windows) or TextEdit (Macintosh).
  2. Type each email address on a new line.
  3. Optionally, you may add a space or a tab after the email address, followed by the member's first and last name. Example: [email protected] Eleazar Wheelock
  4. Save the text file.
  5. After you have created a text file, you can use it to import into your listserv.

To import multiple subscribers at once using bulk operations, do the following:

  1. Access Listserv Management at https://listserv.dartmouth.edu/.
  2. Log in on the upper right. Choose the list you want to manage. If the list is unlisted (hidden) you will need to use the search box on the right to find your list.
  3. Click the Bulk Operations tab.
  4. Choose one of the listed functions. Carefully read each of the functions to determine which is most suited to your needs.
  5. Click Browse.... and browse to the text file you created.
  6. Click Import.
  7. When the bulk operation is complete, you will receive a confirmation message at the top of the page.
