Configure Dartmouth Secure for Mac OS X

Step-by-Step

In order to configure your computer for the Dartmouth Secure wireless network you need the following:

  • A connection to the Internet. This can be any wired or wireless connection.
  • A wireless card in your computer where the wireless antenna is enabled.
  • Your Dartmouth credentials - NetID and Password

For computers running 10.10 or above and within range of the Dartmouth network:

  1. Click the wireless icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen. (This looks like the letter V with 4 lines running across it.)
  2. Select Dartmouth Secure from the list that appears.
  3. In the Username field, enter your NetID.
  4. In the Password field, enter the password for your Dartmouth.edu account.
  5. Click Join.  

For computers running 10.10 or above and NOT within range of the Dartmouth network:

For computers running Mac OS X 10.9 or below:

  1. Start your web browser and go to https://software.dartmouth.edu/setupWizard/DartmouthSecure/index.html.
  2. If you accept the terms of use for this network, place a check in the I accept the terms of the end User License Agreement field, then click Start.
  3. A window pops up letting you know that your user name and password will be required to access the Dartmouth Secure wireless network. Click OK.
  4. Click the network profile link on the next screen.
  5. The latest mobileconfig file will be downloaded to your computer and a Profiles window will open up after a few seconds. Click Continue.
    • If the mobileconfig file does not open automatically, double-click the file to launch it.
  6. Enter your Dartmouth credentials NetID (username) and Password and click Install.
  7. A pop up window appears asking you to allow the Configuration Profile Tool to make changes. Enter your computer password and click OK.
  8. A new popup window may appear asking you to allow the Configuration Profile Tool to use “login” keychain. Enter your computer password and click OK.
  9. After a few seconds the Profiles window will show "Verified" next to Dartmouth College. This indicates the installation was successful.
  10. Click the Airport icon in the menu bar and click Dartmouth Secure, if it is not already checked.
  11. Visit a website to make sure the connection is working.
