Configure Gmail with Dartmouth Account Information

Step-by-Step

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Accounts and Import link.
  5. Under the Send Mail as section, if Gmail is linked to your Dartmouth account, your Dartmouth email address is listed. If you see your Dartmouth e-mail address, scroll to the right and click the Delete button to remove it.
  6. To re-add with correct settings, click Add another email account you own.
  7. Type in your Dartmouth e-mail address and click Next.
  8. In the SMTP box, type "smtp.office365.com" (with no quotes). (See the NOTE below.)
  9. Your username is in the format [email protected].
  10. Enter your password.
  11. Change the port number to 587.
  12. Choose secured connection using TLS and click Add Account.
  13. You will receive an email in your Gmail account that contains a verification code to enter.

NOTE:  If you get an error about authentication failing, double-check your password. If that is correct, try changing the entry in Step 8 to be "outlook.office365.com" (with no quotes).  You may have to try this several times for it to be effective.
