Final Draft for Windows

Step-by-Step

  1. Connect to the Internet via Ethernet on Dartmouth Campus, Eduroam wireless, Dartmouth Secure Wireless, or VPN.
  2. Click to download Final Draft 9 for Windows.
  3. You will be prompted to Save, Run, or Open the File. Click Save or Save File and OK.
  4. Navigate to your web browser's downloads and right-click FinalDraft.zip.
  5. Click Extract All... and click Extract.
  6. A new folder window will appear with two files in it.
  7. Double click Final Draft.exe.
  8. Follow the prompts to install Final Draft.
  9. Click Start and in the Recently Added section (Windows 10) you will see Final Draft 9. Click it to open Final Draft.  Or, if you are using Windows 8, press the Windows Key and open Final Draft 9.
  10. You will be prompted for a Customer Number. Navigate back to the Final Draft Win Installer folder (Step 6).
  11. Double click FD9_Read_Me_Win.txt.
  12. Copy the Customer Number provided in the document and enter it into the space provided by Final Draft.
  13. Click Activate.
  14. In the Local Activation window, remove "local host" and enter the Server Address and Port provided in the FD9_Read_Me_Win.txt file.
  15. Click OK.
  16. Choose register later if asked.
