Installing and Configuring GreenPrint for Macintosh

  1. Download Greenprint-KM.dmg to your desktop using the link above.
  2. Navigate to where the file was downloaded on your computer and double click the Greenprint-KM.dmg file.
  3. Click OK then Open.
  4. The installer's welcome message appears. Click Continue.
  5. The Important Information message appears, click Continue.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Enter the administrator's password for your computer, then click Next.
  8. Click Close.
  9. The GreenPrint installation will run. Click Finish when complete.

From now on, when you want to send a file to a GreenPrint printer, select GreenPrint as the name of the printer you want to use, then click Print. A Pharos pop-up window will appear. Enter your Dartmouth NetID or user name and password in the appropriate fields, and enter the name of the job you are trying to print. Click Print. This job will now appear in the list of print jobs available for release at any GreenPrint Release Station.

If you want to print to a duplex (double-sided) printer, you need to open the Greenprint printer, select Open Print Queue, select Printer setup and click the Driver button. On that screen, check the box for duplex printing unit.

IMPORTANT: The first time you use the GreenPrint system you are REQUIRED to swipe your ID through the card reader to activate your GreenPrint account. Logging in with your username and password the first time will give you an error that a number is not associated with your card. If you get this error, simply log in by swiping your Dartmouth ID card. After the first time of logging into a GreenPrint printer you can use either your ID or your username and password.

Note: If the computer you are using to print to GreenPrint is not connected to the Dartmouth network (e.g. via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly on Eduroam, Dartmouth Secure or Dartmouth Library Public) then you need to start a VPN connection prior to printing to GreenPrint.

Note: After the GreenPrint software is installed on your computer, when you select to print a file to the GreenPrint system, the software will automatically look for updates. A box will pop up on your computer showing that it is looking for "Pharos updates". This will occur once every 24-hours.
