Visitors to Campus:

To connect to the Internet on campus, select "Dartmouth Public" from the list of available public wireless networks. For more information, see How Do Alumni, Guests, or Members of the Public Use the Wireless Network?.

Dartmouth Community Members on and off Campus

Dartmouth maintains two campus networks, wired and wireless. The wired network requires registering your computer and should be used when available as it is faster than the wireless network. Dartmouth members using a wireless connection should choose the "Eduroam" network. Logon with your Username being "<yourNetID>@Dartmouth.edu". The password is your Dartmouth password. Eduroam is just as secure and fast as Dartmouth Secure, but also offers internet connectivity to Dartmouth community members when travelling to many other higher education institutions world-wide.

Wired Network

  • Core network: 10gbps (gigabits per second)
  • Room jacks: A mix of 1gbps (gigabits per second) and 100mbps (megabits per second)
  • A fiber optic backbone organized in a star topology, providing 120+ building networks with 30,000+ active data network ports, as well as a campus-wide wireless network.

Wireless Network

  • The wireless network supports 802.11a/b/g/n wireless clients
  • Speeds up to 450mbps are supported

Internet Access Speeds

  • Commodity Internet: 4gbps (gigabits per second)
  • Internet2 network: 8gbps (gigabits per second)
