Single or Double-Sided Printing with GreenPrint

Details

Printing on both sides of the paper costs less money and increases the number of pages you can print per term without incurring additional fees!

Dartmouth students automatically receive a quota of $20 per term for printing on the GreenPrint printers. If you use a printer that prints on only one side of the paper [a simplex (single-sided) printer], the maximum number of pages per term will be 333. If you print on a printer that prints on both sides of the paper [a duplex (double-sided) printer], the maximum number of pages per term will be 235 - which is the equivalent of 470 single-sided pages.

Greenprint only supports printing on 8-1/2" x 11" paper.

The default setting is double-sided. If you want to print a document single-sided follow the steps below:

Macintosh Users

  1. When the print window comes up, and GreenPrint-KM is selected in the Printer field, click the "Show Details" button to expand the print dialog box. Change the field that is currently set to Copies & Pages to Printer Features.
  2. In the Print dialogue window, look for the grey line that bisects the window with a pop-down menu. It may have Layout, Firefox, or some other application name present. In that pop-down window, click the menu and select Printer Features.
  3. In the Feature Sets field, click Finishing Options 1.
  4. In the Print Type field, change 2-Sided to 1-Sided.
  5. Click Print. The GreenPrint pop-up window will appear. Enter your NetID, password and job description. When you release this job at a GreenPrint station, it will only print on one side of the paper.

Windows Users

  1. When the print window comes up, and GreenPrint-KM is selected in the Printer field:
    1. If you are running Windows 7, in Settings, change the Print on Both Sides field to Print One Sided.
    2. If you are running Windows 8, click Print Options, then Properties, then Print Type. Click 1-sided.
    3. If you are running Windows 10, click Print on Both Sides
  2. Click Print. The GreenPrint pop-up window will appear. Enter your NetID, password and job description. When you release this job at a GreenPrint station, it will only print on one side of the paper.
