Instructional Design Service Overview



The Instructional Design team works with faculty and instructors to help them effectively achieve their teaching and learning goals. This will often include the use of digital technologies.

Instructional Design consults can include these topics:

  • Course design and redesign
  • Defining educational goals and learning objectives
  • Design of both formative and summative assessments to measure attainment of learning outcomes
  • Design of learning activities and experiences that provide practice and preparation for success in assessments
  • Optimizing a Canvas course site with student-centered design decisions
  • Collaboration activities and tools (blogs, wikis, discussion boards)
  • Training and support for educational technologies, such as Classroom Response Systems, Lecture Capture, Screencasting
  • Techniques and approaches such as peer teaching and peer assessment, flipping the classroom
  • Active learning and strategies for student engagement
  • Blended learning

We also frequently offer workshops on these topics, and can create departmental workshops on request.
