OurFiles Windows Connection

Step by Step

Do NOT connect to OurFiles from a public computer unless you have the ability to restart the computer after you have finished using OurFiles. If you do need to connect from a public computer, do NOT select Reconnect at logon, otherwise, the next person who uses the computer will have access to your files.

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click My Computer or Computer from the list that appears.
  3. Click Map Network Drive.
  4. Select the drive letter you would like to use. In the Folder field, enter \\<name of share>\<name of department>*.
  5. If you would like to reconnect to this server every time you log into your computer, select Reconnect at log on.
  6. Important: Do NOT connect to OurFiles from a public computer unless you have the ability to restart the computer after you have finished using OurFiles. If you do need to do this, do NOT select Reconnect at logon. Otherwise, the next person who uses the computer will have access to your files.
  7. If you log into the Kiewit domain when you start your computer, click Finish. A window will appear with your OurFiles connection.
  8. If you do not log into the Kiewit domain when you start your computer, you will be prompted for a user name and password. Select Connect using a different user name.
  9. In the Username field, enter your NetID followed by "@dartmouth.edu". For example d12[email protected]
  10. In the Password field, enter your password.
  11. Click Finish.

*NOTE: If you are unsure of the name of the share that you need to connect to follow the directions below:

  • Windows 8 users: Click the yellow folder on the far left bottom of your screen and then type \\<name of share>\ in the address bar of the window and press Enter. A list of all the share you have access to will be displayed.
  • Windows 7 users: Click Start then in the Search programs and files box type \\<name of share>\ and press Enter. A list of all the share you have access to will be displayed.
