Configuring Notifications in Outlook and AppleMail


By default, all the notifications of the arrival of new email are turned on.

To configure these notifications:

In Outlook 2013 or 2016 (Windows) click the File tab, then click Options. Click Mail and then locate Message arrival. There are several options you can change under this section: to change the length of time the Desktop Alerts appears or the transparency, click Desktop Alert Settings.

In Outlook 2016 (Mac), click the Outlook menu icon and select Preferences. Click Notifications and Sounds. Here you can change the settings as needed or click Reset Alerts to change the settings back to their default values.

In Apple Mail, click the Mail menu item, then click Preferences and select General. Here you can change the default sound or remove all sounds for incoming mail in the New Messages Sound drop down menu.
