Configure Dartmouth Secure for Windows 7

Step-by-Step

In order to configure your computer for the Dartmouth Secure wireless network you need the following:

  • A connection to the Internet. This can be any wired or wireless connection.
  • A wireless card in your computer where the wireless antenna is enabled.
  • Your Dartmouth Credentials: NetID and Password

You do not need to be on the Dartmouth network in order to configure your computer for the Dartmouth Secure network.

  1. Start your web browser and go to https://software.dartmouth.edu/setupWizard/DartmouthSecure/index.html.
  2. Check I accept the terms of the End-User License Agreement, then click Start.
  3. The Setup Wizard Window will load. If the setup wizard does not display, you will have to configure the wireless settings manually; click manual download page for those instructions
  4. A popup window may appear asking Do you want to run this application from XpressConnectLoader, if you see this dialog, click Run.
  5. If you want your computer to remember the login credentials for the Dartmouth Secure wireless network, place a check in the check Automatically submit Credentials field.
  6. Enter your Dartmouth NetID and Password into the corresponding fields, then click Continue.
  7. A Wireless Utility Conflict screen may appear. If this happens, click Continue to allow the issue to be resolved automatically.
  8. Depending the security settings on your computer, a window may pop up asking if you want to allow this change to your computer. Allow the windows command process to run.
  9. After a few moments, a window appears letting you know you are Successfully Connected to Dartmouth's wireless network – if you are on campus where that wireless network is available to you. Click Done.
  10. Check your wireless connection to determine if you computer is connected to Dartmouth Secure and enter a URL to determine if the connection is working.
