Windows Computer's Name and IP Address

Step-by-Step

To find your computer's name and current IP address:

  1. Start by opening a command prompt window by pressing the Windows key and the R key down together, then in the Open box enter cmd and click OK.
  2. In the Command Prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all (there is a space after ipconfig) and press the Enter key.
  3. In the ipconfig results, look for the Host Name field to see the computer name.
  4. Look for the IPv4 Address for your computer's current IP address.  NOTE: You may have more than one IPv4 Address depending on the connection type (ethernet or wireless).
