SPSS for Macintosh


SPSS is statistical analysis software and is controlled via a license manager. Version 24 runs on Macintosh OS X 10.10.5 and newer.

  1. Using a web browser, please go to the following URLs:

  2. You need to download the SPSS_Statistics_24_mac.dmg, and also the files. To download the files,
    •  Right-button click (Control-click) on the SPSS_Statistics_24_mac.dmg file and select to Download linked file (Safari) or Save Link As (Firefox and Chrome).

    • Right-button click (Control-click) on the file and select to Download linked file (Safari) or Save Link As (Firefox and Chrome).

  3. Once you have the two files saved to your computer,
    • Double-click the , SPSS_Statistics_24_mac.dmg, and then double-click the SPSS_Statistics_Installer to start the installation.
    • Take all the default options offered, when the installation is complete, uncheck the box to start SPSS 24 (as you still need to run the license update), then click Done.
    • Double-click the, then open the resulting folder.
    • Right-button click (Control-click) on the FixMacSPSSlicense file, and from the menu, click Open. (Click Open again if prompted).
    • You will see a “SPSS network license setup” dialog window that pronounces, "SPSS 24 license server updated to Renamed local demo license".
    • Click Quit.

  4. To run SPSS, you will find the SPSSStatistics program located in the Applications folder under IBM -> SPSS -> Statistics -> 24 -> SPSSStatistics.
