Xfinity Service

Details

As of September 15, 2015, Comcast's Xfinity On Campus service is now available for residential students living in on-campus housing. Developed by Comcast, Xfinity on Campus is a service that lets participating students watch live TV and On Demand content on their IP-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets and smartphones via WiFi, so there’s no need for a TV.

At Dartmouth, Xfinity On Campus includes more than 100 live TV channels, including every major broadcast network, as well as channels like AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN, FX and MTV. Students can also access thousands of current season TV shows and hit movies via Xfinity On Demand.

This service is only available to devices on Dartmouth's wired network, or the Eduroam or Dartmouth Secure wireless network. If you are connecting via a wireless router than was not set up by Dartmouth, you will not have access to xfinity.

Access is for residential students only; students must be living in on-campus housing. Sachem Village and Rental Housing are not included. Staff living in on campus housing are not included.

Students will be re-directed to Dartmouth Web authentication before accessing the service. Students can register up to three devices, but can only access content on one device at a time.

Students can upgrade to premium subscription channels, if they want. This is a separate contract between students and Comcast. If students set up their own subscription with Comcast, they will be given a different web site address (URL) to use to access the premium channels they subscribed to. If they use that URL while connected to the Dartmouth network, the Dartmouth channels will be available to them in addition to the premium channels. If they use that URL while connected to a different network or via VPN, only the premium channels will be available to them.

Xfinity will not work on devices connected to the network via a VPN connection.

Neither java nor flash are required for xfinity.
